Indonesian President Prabowo Receives Royal Johor Award During State Visit
KUALA LUMPUR — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was given a full state welcome at Istana Negara today as part of his state visit to Malaysia, invited by Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia. Prabowo arrived at 10am and was greeted by Sultan Ibrahim, with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Deputy Prime Ministers Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Fadillah Yusof also in attendance.
The ceremony featured both nations' national anthems, a 21-gun salute, and a Guard of Honour inspection by Prabowo. Afterward, he was conferred the prestigious Darjah Kerabat Johor Yang Amat Dihormati I by Sultan Ibrahim, followed by a state banquet.
This marks the first state visit by a foreign head of state since Sultan Ibrahim became Malaysia's King, as well as Prabowo's first Southeast Asian state visit since his inauguration in October 2023.
The visit highlights the strong ties between Malaysia and Indonesia, with both countries committed to enhancing bilateral cooperation in areas like politics, defense, education, and trade. Bilateral trade between the nations grew to RM106.06 billion in 2023, underlining the close economic partnership.
