PETALING JAYA: In its Chinese New Year greetings, PAS called for continued dialogue to address misunderstandings that fuel unnecessary conflict and tension in Malaysia. PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan emphasized that such discussions are crucial for maintaining interfaith harmony and safeguarding the core values of Malaysian society. He stressed that respect for each community’s sensitivities is key to preventing controversies, particularly those involving Islamic teachings and Muslim dietary laws.
Takiyuddin highlighted that mutual respect and understanding should be integral to Malaysia’s way of life, not just ideals invoked during certain times. He also noted that festivals like Chinese New Year symbolize the nation’s unity and harmony. PAS extended heartfelt wishes for a prosperous and harmonious New Year to the Malaysian Chinese community.
