Rakesh Roshan, the actor-director, found immense success with his son Hrithik Roshan’s debut film Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, which earned Hrithik several awards. However, just a week after its release, Rakesh Roshan was shot by gangsters while leaving his office in Mumbai.

In an emotional recount, Rakesh shared how he didn't even realize he had been shot at first. His driver was terrified, but Rakesh calmly instructed him to breathe and took him to the police station, thinking the attackers might be nearby. It was only then that he noticed the blood on his shirt. After visiting the police station, he was rushed to the hospital by the police.

Rakesh called his father-in-law, Om Prakash, and then Hrithik, who was at Yash Chopra’s house at the time. Despite the surgery and pain, he remained calm for the sake of his family, knowing that if he showed fear, they would too.

However, the trauma didn’t end there. Rakesh received threatening calls targeting his son Hrithik, warning of “bad news.” He reassured Hrithik to stay strong and not fear.

Hrithik, devastated by the incident, felt responsible for his father being shot, not just due to the threats, but for the entire situation. He even considered quitting acting, but his father’s support and encouragement kept him going in the industry.
