Steven Gerrard has parted ways with Saudi club Al-Ettifaq by mutual consent after 18 months in charge, the club announced on January 31. Gerrard, who took over in the summer of 2023 and had signed a contract through 2027, leaves with Al-Ettifaq in 12th place in the Saudi Pro League, having won just 3 of their first 10 matches this season.

Gerrard reflected positively on his time in Saudi Arabia, stating, “It’s been a positive experience personally and for my family,” despite the club's underperformance. Over his 59 matches in charge, he won 23, drew 16, and lost 20.

Club president Samer Al Mishal praised Gerrard’s contributions, saying he laid “firm foundations” for the club’s future. Gerrard’s coaching journey began with success at Rangers, where he won the Scottish title in 2021, but his time at Aston Villa was less fruitful, leading to his sacking in 2022.
