Sabah Electricity Monitors Power Supply, Shuts Substations as Floods Worsen

KOTA KINABALU — Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd is closely monitoring the power supply in flood-affected areas, with a technical team on 24-hour standby to address any damage. Flood-hit districts, including Kota Marudu, Lahad Datu, Sandakan, and others, are being closely watched, and mobile generators will be deployed to key locations.

As of tonight, over 4,380 people from 1,475 families have been evacuated to 34 relief centres. Due to safety concerns, several electricity substations have been shut down, with repairs set to begin once water levels subside.

Operations rooms have been set up in each affected district to respond swiftly to any electrical hazards. Sabah Electricity has urged the public to avoid using electrical appliances in flood-affected areas and to stay safe from potential electric shocks by keeping electrical switches dry.

For power outages, consumers are advised to contact Sabah Electricity at 15444 or via WhatsApp at 019-8525427.
