PAC to Summon Key Figures, Including Transport Minister, Over RM500M EPF Loss in MAHB Share Deal
KUALA LUMPUR — The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is set to summon several key figures, including Transport Minister Anthony Loke, over the RM500 million loss suffered by the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) in its share transactions with Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), according to PAC chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.
The phased hearings are scheduled to begin in the second week of February, addressing issues such as MAHB's delisting from Bursa Malaysia and concerns over high ticket prices and delays in the Aerotrain installation. Mas Ermieyati also confirmed that EPF’s sale and repurchase of MAHB shares will be scrutinized, especially after EPF’s stake was reduced to just five percent following the privatization exercise.
Additionally, PAC will conduct hearings on several other public issues, including electric train leasing, public airport management, and rising healthcare costs. The committee aims to hold over 150 meetings and present 25 reports this year.
