SHAH ALAM — Police are using advanced 3D scanning technology to aid their renewed investigation into the death of Teoh Beng Hock, 15 years after his body was found at Plaza Masalam.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the 3D scan will provide a clearer digital reconstruction of the scene, despite some changes to the location over time. He expects initial results in two weeks.
Five special teams have been set up to re-investigate the case, with over 40 witnesses, including those believed to have returned overseas, to be called in. Shuhaily is hopeful the investigation will be completed before May.
The police were ordered by the Kuala Lumpur High Court to finish the investigation within six months, following a judicial review by Teoh’s parents. Teoh, who was found dead on July 16, 2009, had been giving a statement at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office on the 14th floor before his death.
