Arteta Disappointed as Arsenal Fail to Sign Striker in January Window

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed frustration after the club failed to secure a new striker before the January transfer window closed. Despite a £60 million bid for Ollie Watkins, which was rejected by Aston Villa, the Gunners ended the window without a new forward, leaving them short-handed with injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka.

Ahead of the League Cup semi-final against Newcastle, Arteta acknowledged the disappointment but remained focused on improving the squad with the right players. While Arsenal didn't strengthen in attack, Arteta remained optimistic, praising his team's performance in their 5-1 victory over Manchester City.

With a 2-0 deficit to overturn at St James' Park, Arteta is confident the momentum from the City win will help Arsenal push for their first League Cup final since 2018. "It's time for full gas," Arteta said.
