KUALA LUMPUR — A Perak man was among 61 individuals rescued from a human trafficking and online scam ring in Myanmar. The group, including 39 Chinese, 13 Indians, and others from various countries, was handed over to Thai authorities at the Mae Sot border checkpoint on Thursday. The 32-year-old Malaysian arrived in Mae Sot the same day. Thai officials are screening the victims before repatriation. To combat online scams, Thailand has also cut electricity, internet, and fuel supplies to five Myanmar border towns.
