PETALING JAYA — A witness in the neglect trial of Zayn Rayyan's parents testified that the autistic boy, who went missing and was later found dead, was a well-behaved child who rarely had tantrums. Nasimah Abu Bakar, a student management assistant at his school, described the 6-year-old as obedient and not difficult to manage during the time she worked with him from March to December 2023.
Nasimah recalled being alerted about Zayn’s disappearance on Dec 5, 2023, and confirmed with his mother, Ismanira, who admitted he had run off quickly. The following day, Ismanira revealed that her son had previously gone missing at Taman Metropolitan.
The trial continues on Feb 17, where Zayn's parents, Zaim Ikhwan and Ismanira, face charges under the Child Act for neglecting their son, which is believed to have led to his death. Zayn was found dead in a stream near his home on Dec 6, with post-mortem results indicating signs of possible murder.
