Tenaga Nasional overpower Armed Forces in MHL

KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional defeated Armed Forces 3-1 to record their seventh win in the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) in Bukit Jalil on Sunday.

Tenaga and Terengganu both have 21 points but the unbeaten East Coast team have two matches remaining compared to Tenaga's one match.

Tenaga's goals came from Azrai Aizad Abu Kamal (sixth minute), Haris Iskandar Osman (14th) and Jang Jong Hyun (18th) while Ismail Abu replied for Armed Forces in the 34th.

Tenaga coach Nor Saiful Zaini said: "We were not at full strength as I rested five key players due to minor injuries and also cards."

At the National Hockey Stadium, Universiti Teknologi Mara edged Territory Stingers of Australia 3-1 for their third win to stay on track for the quarter-finals.

Liaoning from China beat TNB Thunderbolts 4-2 to record their second win.

In the women's league, Negri Sembilan edged Territory Stingers 1-0.

Last year's league champions Malaysian University downed Armed Forces 1-0 at the Education Ministry Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.
