"LONDON — Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has acknowledged that his team's poor form on the pitch plays a part in the recent job cuts at Old Trafford.

With around a quarter of United’s staff let go over the summer and further layoffs planned amid £300 million in losses, Amorim believes the first team must take some responsibility.

The manager pointed out that with the team not winning, not qualifying for the Champions League, and struggling in 14th place, revenues have dropped, contributing to staff redundancies.

“We cannot ignore this issue. The first team is responsible for the situation,” he said.

United faces Tottenham, currently 15th, in a crucial match today."
