Sungai Petani — Four policemen were injured after a 32-year-old man attacked them with a machete in Taman Seri Astana. The officers, aged in their 20s, 40s, and 50s, sustained injuries to their heads and bodies. Two of the younger officers were treated and discharged, while the others remain in stable condition in hospital. The suspect, who was found in a locked house, swung the machete as police attempted to arrest him, leading officers to fire in self-defense. He later died from his injuries at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect aggressively chase and strike the officers before retreating into his home. The suspect had reportedly been off his medication, which may have contributed to his violent outburst. The case is under investigation for attempted murder.
