SHAH ALAM – The suspect involved in last week’s shooting at a Setia Alam shopping mall was killed in a police shootout at a Pulau Ketam hotel early this morning. The man, in his 30s, was tracked down during a joint operation by the Bukit Aman and Selangor Criminal Investigation Departments around 3 am.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the suspect was shot dead inside a hotel room, with two loaded firearms found on him. The suspect, who had a criminal history including drug and robbery offenses, had been hiding at the hotel for two days.
The Feb 8 shooting at Setia Alam mall left a cleaner wounded, and the suspect escaped by hijacking a vehicle. Police had identified him and launched a manhunt.
