KUALA LUMPUR — The Central Brigade of the General Operations Force (PGA) seized RM721 million worth of e-waste in raids across Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor last Saturday. In the joint Op Hazard with the Department of Environment (DOE) and local authorities, 47 people were arrested in 12 raids, including 42 foreigners from various countries.
The arrests were made under the Environmental Quality Act 1974, the Firearms Act 1960, and the Immigration Act 1963. The police emphasized the importance of public cooperation to combat smuggling and illegal activities.
Additionally, the Southeast Brigade PGA dismantled an illegal e-waste syndicate in Pahang, seizing RM410 million worth of unprocessed silver and other materials.
