KUALA LUMPUR: Police can forget about winning the Challenge Cup against Selangor at MBPJ Stadium tomorrow.
The Cops were penalised by the FA of Malaysia (FAM) disciplinary committee today for fielding an ineligible player during their Challenge Cup first-leg final against Selangor last Saturday.
Police lost the first leg 3-2 but now they are punished with a 3-0 forfeit by FAM for breach of competition rules.
Police were found guilty of fielding a suspended player, Safiee Ahmad, in the first leg final.
Safiee was supposed to have been serving a one-match suspension after accumulating two yellow cards in two matches earlier - in the quarter-final first leg against Melaka and in the semi-final second leg against Kedah. But he was used as a substitute in the 58th minute against Selangor.
Police have also been fined RM3,000 for the incident. The decision is final and cannot be appealed.
This will see Selangor holding a 3-0 aggregate lead heading into the second leg of the Challenge Cup final.
