Podium show from Malaysia's riders on the first day

NILAI: National track cycling coach Harnizam Basri is pleased that his scratch teams finished on the podium on the first day of the Asian Cycling Championships (ACC) at the Nilai Velodrome today (Feb 21).

The men's elite team sprint of Ridwan Sahrom, Fadhil Zonis and Akmal Nazimi Jusena bagged the bronze medal with a time of 44.033s.

Japan, represented by Yoshitaku Nagasako, Kaiya Ota, and Shinji Nakano, clinched gold with 43.258s, while silver went to China's Tang Haoju, Feng Yusheng, and Liu Qi with 43.708.

In the women's elite category, Anis Amira Rosidi, Nurul Izzah Izzati Asri, and Nur Alyssa Farid secured silver with a time of 49.132s.

They had earlier set a new national record of 48.458s in the first round.

The previous mark of 49.025s was set by Nurul Aliana Syafika Azizan, Nurul Izzah and Anis's at the 2024 Hangzhou Asiad.
