SINGAPORE: A Scoot flight bound for Singapore was forced to return to Xi'an just 20 minutes after take-off on Feb 23 due to a technical issue.
Some passengers reported seeing "sparks" coming from the engine during departure, with one describing the sight as resembling a rocket.
The aircraft, however, landed safely in Xi'an, capital of China's Shaanxi province.
Responding to queries from The Straits Times, Singapore-based budget airline Scoot said there was no engine fire on flight TR135 and that emergency services were activated at Xi'an Xianyang International Airport as a precaution.
