Sawda Hasbullah, the newly crowned Asian champion, has made history by becoming Malaysia's first world record holder in cycling. The 17-year-old set a new record in the girls’ junior 1km time trial at the Asian Championships in Nilai, clocking 1:10.818s, beating Taiwan’s Liu Shan-ying's previous record. The International Cycling Union (UCI) has officially recognized her achievement. Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) president Datuk Amarjit Singh praised Sawda’s historic feat, calling it an inspiring moment for young athletes. The 1km time trial is a new event for women, replacing the previous 500m distance.
