Hyderabad: Popular Telugu comedian Posani Krishna Murali has been arrested by the Andhra Pradesh police. He was taken into custody from his residence in New Science Colony, Hyderabad.
The arrest follows a complaint filed by a Jana Sena Party official, alleging that Krishna Murali made derogatory remarks about Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan during the previous administration. He was interrogated for over eight hours, and police reported that he was uncooperative during questioning.
The situation outside the police station became tense as numerous YSR Congress Party supporters gathered in protest.
Posani Krishna Murali is a strong supporter of former Andhra CM Jagan Mohan Reddy and previously held the position of Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Film, Television, and Theatre Development Corporation.
Since the 1990s, Krishna Murali has been involved in Telugu cinema as a screenwriter, actor, director, and producer. He has penned dialogues for films featuring stars like Nagarjuna and Chiranjeevi, as well as for some movies by director Ram Gopal Varma. He has also played various comedic roles in numerous Telugu films.
