LANGKAWI: A 4-year-old boy was seriously injured after being mauled by a pack of dogs in Kampung Dede, Sungai Menghulu, earlier today.
In the 10.30am incident, Ahmad Raihan Abdul Mukmin sustained injuries to his head, body, and legs before being rescued by passersby.
The victim's mother, Nur Solehah Mat Hahir, 25, said the attack occurred while her son was playing near their home.
"After the attack, the passersby helped to rush my son to Sultanah Maliha Hospital by the Malaysian Civil Defence Force ambulance for treatment.
"I was not at home at the time, and only found out about the incident after a neighbour informed me, followed by a phone call from my mother.
"As for now, my son is still receiving treatment at the hospital. The head wound is quite severe, in addition to multiple bite marks on his body and legs," she said when contacted today.
Nur Solehah said she had lodged a police report at the Langkawi police headquarters at noon today.
Meanwhile, Langkawi police chief, Assistant Commissioner Shariman Ashari, confirmed that two reports have been lodged in connection with the incident.
"The victim is a four-year-old boy, and both the hospital and the victim's mother have filed police reports regarding the incident today.
"At the time of the attack, the victim was surrounded and mauled by a pack of dogs near his home in Kampung Dede Sungai Menghulu," he said in a statement.
