KUALA LUMPUR: High Court judge Roz Mawar Rozain has been assigned to hear former research assistant Yusoff Rawther’s civil lawsuit against Anwar Ibrahim. Yusoff alleges that Anwar sexually assaulted him at the PKR president’s home in Segambut in October 2018.

Lawyer Navpreet Singh, representing Anwar, confirmed that Roz Mawar, who has taken over from Justice Johan Lee, maintained the trial dates in June—16 to 19 and 23 to 25. The new judge also set a deadline for witness statements to be filed by May 26.

Yusoff filed the suit in 2021, seeking damages for the alleged assault and claiming the incident harmed his mental health and damaged his reputation. Anwar denies the allegations and has filed a countersuit.

In a separate case, Yusoff was remanded in September 2023 for drug trafficking and possession of replica firearms. His trial for those charges will take place in April.
