KUALA LUMPUR — The Dewan Rakyat passed the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2025 today with a two-thirds majority, paving the way for the Parliamentary Services Bill 2025. The bill amends Articles 56 and 57 of the Federal Constitution, allowing the Speaker and Dewan Negara president, along with their deputies, to hold positions in the Parliamentary Service Commission without disqualification, as long as they do not receive benefits. It also amends Article 65 to enable the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to appoint the Secretaries of the Dewan Negara and Dewan Rakyat.
