Selangor Sultan Gets RM13.2mil Zakat from 6 State-Owned Firms

SHAH ALAM: Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, received over RM13.2 million in business zakat from six state-owned companies in Selangor on March 4. The contributions included RM3.4 million from Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad, RM2.9 million from Kumpulan Worldwide Holdings Berhad, and RM2.6 million from the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), among others.

The Sultan accepted the zakat during a breaking of fast event at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, where he was greeted by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, and the Selangor Islamic Religious Council chairman Datuk Salehuddin Saidin.

At the event, the Sultan also received a waqf donation of RM401,986.55 from the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and the Tabung Infaq Jariah Umat Islam Selangor (TIJARI). MBSA donated RM50,000, while TIJARI contributed RM351,986.55 for educational development. The Sultan also received a Mobile Dental Clinic donation from Wakaf Selangor Muamalat.

Additionally, Sultan Sharafuddin distributed Hari Raya donations of RM500 each to 434 recipients, totaling RM217,000. The event concluded with the Sultan breaking fast and performing prayers with the attendees.
