KUALA LUMPUR: A power bank caught fire inside a mass rapid transit (MRT) train along the East-West Line yesterday evening (March 7) in Singapore.
Channel NewsAsia (CNA) reported that the incident had caused panic among passengers as the train arrived at Raffles Place station.
Transport operator Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT) said the incident occurred at 5.30pm when an emergency communication button on an eastbound train was activated.
"Our station staff responded quickly and found that a commuter's power bank had caught fire," said SMRT Trains president Lam Sheau Kai.
