Civil defence team rescues four people trapped in lift on 42nd floor

KUALA LUMPUR: Four individuals, including a young girl, faced a harrowing experience after being trapped in a lift on the 42nd floor of a residence in Taman Danau Kota here last night.

District civil defence officer for Kuala Lumpur, Cheras and Sentul, Major (PA) Ahmad Junaidi Dukut Soerharto, said his department received a call regarding the incident at 10.59pm.

He said the incident involved two women, a man and a young girl.

He added that it is believed the incident occurred an hour before the Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel arrived.

"The lift contractor arrived at 12:30 am and rescue operations began at 1.00am. By 2.07am, the process of bringing the victims down was completed.

"The victims, aged between three and 32 years, were safely brought down to the 41st floor and handed over to the Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) ambulance team," he said in a statement today.

He added that the victims were then taken to HKL for further treatment and the operation ended at 4.27am.
