PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysia Esports Federation (MESF) is intensifying efforts to unearth talents in game titles that are relatively unfamiliar to Malaysian gamers, with the aim of maximising the country's medal prospects at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.
A total of 11 medal events have been confirmed for Esports at the Games: Dreams Three Kingdoms, eFootball Series, Gran Turismo 7, Honor of Kings, League of Legends, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), Naraka: Bladepoint, Pokemon UNITE, Puyo Puyo Champions, PUBG and Street Fighter 6.
Of these, only eFootball, Honor of Kings, MLBB, and PUBG currently have established competitive leagues in Malaysia.
MESF president Naim Al Amin Saharudin said that these lesser-known titles are being given a platform to be contested locally through the Malaysian Esports League (MEL).
