PETALING JAYA: City Hall (DBKL) removed murals from several bus stops in Kuala Lumpur, stating they were painted without permission. DBKL clarified that no official application was submitted by the artists, and the removal followed standard maintenance procedures. Additionally, a bus stop on Jalan Raja Azlan Shah was demolished due to its dilapidated state.

The mural removals are part of efforts to upgrade 21 bus stops ahead of upcoming ASEAN meetings. DBKL emphasized the need for approval for public murals to ensure compatibility with the urban environment. The decision followed an artist’s complaint about the removal of murals he had painted.
