PETALING JAYA: A 29-year-old farm worker, Firdaus Baktehir, has been charged with murdering 31-year-old Syarah Nurul Masturah Abdullah, a mother of three, by setting her on fire with petrol in Kampung Baru, Sri Gading, on March 8. The charge, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, carries the death penalty or 30 to 40 years in prison and caning. Firdaus, who was limping due to burns on his thighs from the incident, was not granted bail, and the court set April 24 for the next hearing.
