ALOR SETAR: Two brothers, aged four and seven, were burned after allegedly playing with firecrackers in Kampung Baru, Kuala Nerang, Kedah, yesterday. The incident occurred around 8:15 pm while the children were outside without their parents' knowledge. Police were alerted at 1:32 am, and the boys were admitted to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital’s Red Zone around 9:30 pm.
The children, believed to have obtained the firecrackers from a friend, were playing with ball-type crackers. The mother discovered the incident after hearing a loud bang. The seven-year-old suffered severe injuries, and both are now in the hospital’s pediatric ICU. An investigation has been launched under the Corrosive and Explosive Substances Act and the Child Act.
