KOTA TINGGI: A teenager died on his birthday on Thursday after losing control of his motorcycle, which skidded and crashed into a guardrail at KM19.3 of Jalan Sungai Rengit–Kota Tinggi.

According to Kosmo!, the 19-year-old victim, identified as Muhammad Aiman Amirul Rashid, was on his way home to Felda Air Tawar 5 from his workplace in Bukit Pelali when the accident occurred.

District police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman was quoted as saying that police were informed of the accident at 8.40pm.

"The victim sustained head injuries and died on the spot," he said.

Yusof added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

Meanwhile, the victim's stepfather, Zulkeply Ayob, 40, told the Malay daily that he and his wife immediately rushed to the scene upon learning about the accident involving the youngest of their four children.

Zulkeply said the pain was even more unbearable as the accident occurred on Aiman Amirul's birthday.

"I have been raising him since he was six years old.

"I always reminded him to be careful when riding his motorcycle, especially now that it's the rainy season," he said.

Zulkeply added that Aiman Amirul had already made preparations for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration, including buying his baju Melayu.
