KAJANG: The Shah Alam High Court today (March 24) denied bail to GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd chairman and chief executive officer Nasiruddin Mohd Ali along with 12 other men charged with being members of an organised criminal group.
Judge Datuk Seri Latifah Mohd Tahar dismissed the accused's applications to be released on bail while awaiting trial under Section 13 of the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act. (Sosma).
She rejected the applications of Nasiruddin, 66, Hasnan Abd Hamid, 54, Mokhtar Tajuddin, 62, Mohd Fazil Md Jasin, 58, Shuhaimi Mohamed, 57, Muhammad Zahid Azhar @Nadzri, 52, and Mohd Shukri Mohd Noor, who had submitted their health reports.
"The court finds that the applicant (Nasiruddin) failed to fulfill any conditions stipulated under the section.
"He is confirmed to have a few chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and heart issues. He is being treated and under medication.
"His latest medical report showed his condition is under control and physical checks revealed he can walk to the prison clinic and does not have breathing difficulties.
"The medical officer also confirmed that he (Nasiruddin) is clinically stable and able to carry out activities independently.
"The court finds the applicant failed to present any evidence that he will not have access to medication if he remains in prison.
"The medical officer said the prison has adequate medical facilities and medication to treat him if there are complications," she said.
Latifah had presided over the proceedings at the Kajang Prison Court Complex.
