JITRA: Three express bus drivers from two companies were caught committing various traffic offences on the first day of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Special Operation (Ops HRA) 2025 by the Kedah Road Transport Department (RTD).

Among the offences recorded were overtaking on double lines, overtaking on broken lines, and dropping off passengers at unauthorised locations.

Kedah RTD director Stien Van Lutam said the violations were detected through undercover monitoring by enforcement officers on board the buses.

In the first incident, a 27-year-old co-driver was found dropping off passengers at an unauthorised location at 4am yesterday.

"The bus was travelling from Alor Star to Kelantan. The driver is being investigated under Section 22(3) of the Land Public Transport Act 2010, which carries a fine of between RM1,000 and RM500,000.

"He was also caught overtaking on a double line, an offence that carries a RM300 compound," he said at a press conference during Ops HRA 2025 operations at the Jitra North-South Expressway (Plus) Toll Plaza last night.
