PENAMPANG: The motorcyclist and the driver of the Perodua Kenari involved in yesterday's (March 28) accident along Jalan Papar-Kota Kinabalu agreed to a private settlement instead of involving the police, said district police chief Superintendent Sammy Newton.

He said the motorcyclist was initially to be investigated under Rule 10 LN 166/59 of the Malaysian Road Traffic Rules for the offence of losing control of a vehicle and causing an accident.

"However, the motorcyclist and the driver have resolved the matter amicably. (Thus, the case has been settled without police involvement.)" he told 'New Straits Times'.

The incident, which was captured on video and went viral, showed the motorcyclist crashing into the car's side mirror as he weaved through crawling traffic.

After falling onto the roadside, the motorcyclist got up, walked towards the car, and repeatedly punched its window.
