BANGKOK: As tremors rocked Bangkok on March 28, a Korean man leapt across a broken sky bridge, 50 storeys above the ground, to reach his wife and daughter in a neighbouring building.

Kwon Young-jun's daring leap at the Park Origin condominium in Thonglor was captured on video and quickly circulated online, alongside images of the devastation caused by the earthquake, including collapsing buildings and water pouring from rooftop infinity pools.

Kwon was exercising on the 52nd floor of one of the condominium's three blocks when the earthquake struck, according to his wife, online personality and entrepreneur Bowyuri, who shared the details on March 30.

"It's very dangerous. When I saw the clip, I was shocked like everyone else," said the Thai beauty and skincare products entrepreneur on Facebook, who has more than 1.3 million followers online.

"The events that day happened so fast. No one was at their most mindful... Oppa just wanted to help the family... When Oppa told the story, it wasn't this scary because he didn't turn around to look," she added, using the Korean term for big brother to refer to her husband and business partner.

Fortunately, Kwon was largely unscathed, suffering just minor scratches.
