Fortes fires late winner as Selangor sink Terengganu

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor resumed their Super League campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Terengganu at the MBPJ Stadium in Petaling Jaya on Saturday (April 5).

In their penultimate match of the 2024-2025 M-League season, the Red Giants struggled to break down a resilient Terengganu side still battling for a top-four finish.

Katsuhito Kinoshi's men finally made the breakthrough in the 88th minute when Alvin Fortes unleashed a long-range effort past Terengganu goalkeeper Rahadiazli Rahalim to seal all three points.

Selangor remain second in the standings with 49 points, while Terengganu sit fifth with 32.

Meanwhile, in Paroi, Penang recorded a 2-0 away win over Negri Sembilan.

Winger Rahmat Makasuf opened the scoring in the 13th minute before Rafael Vitor converted a late penalty in the 86th.

Penang are now ninth with 23 points, while Negri remain second from bottom with just 13.

Results:

Super League: Selangor 1 Terengganu 0, Negri Sembilan 0 Penang 2.
