KUALA LUMPUR: The late Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will be accorded state funeral ceremony at the Makam Pahlawan (National Heroes Mausoleum) at Masjid Negara here today.

In a statement, the Prime Minister's Department also said that all buildings within a 2-kilometre radius of Masjid Negara must fly the Jalur Gemilang at half-mast until the completion of the funeral ceremony for the country's fifth prime minister.

The statement also said that the body of Abdullah, fondly known as Pak Lah, will be brought to Masjid Negara at 8am for funeral rites.

The final respects will be held at the Main Prayer Hall of the mosque from 11am to 1pm.

The funeral prayer will be performed after the Zohor prayers, and the burial will take place at the Makam Pahlawan, Masjid Negara, Kuala Lumpur.

The statement further advised those planning to pay their final respects at the mosque to adhere to the dress code.

It was reported that Abdullah passed away at 7.10pm at the National Heart Institute yesterday.

The news of his passing was confirmed by his son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin.
