BACHOK: A 25-year-old man has been arrested for uploading a TikTok clip allegedly containing derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, along with elements of incitement.

District police chief Superintendent Mohamad Ismail Jamaluddin said police received a report on April 11 alleging that the suspect had uploaded the clip, which also incited the local community to boycott the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration scheduled for the following day.

Acting on the report, Ismail said police arrested the suspect and seized his mobile phone to assist in investigations.

"Investigations showed that the suspect used names deemed insulting when referring to the Prime Minister.

"He also made statements that appeared to urge the public to boycott the Prime Minister's Hari Raya event," he said in a statement.

Ismail said the case is being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act, and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
