KUALA LUMPUR: A knife-wielding man was shot in the leg by a security guard after he went on a sudden rampage at a restaurant in Banting earlier today.

A 57-second video of the incident, which occurred near Banting Hospital, has since gone viral on social media.

In the clip, several people can be seen attempting to fend off the man with chairs as he tries to attack one of them.

The situation quickly escalated until a security guard on site discharged a single shot, hitting the suspect in the leg and subduing him.

Kuala Langat district police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi, when contacted, confirmed the incident and said further details would be released in an official media statement.

It is understood that no other injuries were reported, and authorities are investigating the motive behind the attack.
