Ampang Jaya, Selangor - Mark Carney's Liberals won Canada's election but fell short of a majority, securing 167 seats. Carney emphasized the end of Canada's traditional relationship with the US and the need to counter Trump's tariffs. He attributed the Liberal win to anti-Conservative sentiment, concerns over US tariffs, and Trudeau's departure. The Conservatives, led by Pierre Poilievre, gained 145 seats. Poilievre conceded but vowed to hold the government accountable. Trump's threats of tariffs and annexation fueled support for Carney. Trump reiterated his desire for Canada to become the 51st state, promising benefits in return. Smaller parties' supporters shifted to the Liberals due to US tensions. NDP leader Jagmeet Singh plans to resign after his party's poor showing. The Conservatives made gains in Toronto but failed to prevent a Liberal minority. Poilievre acknowledged the need for change takes time.
