KUALA LUMPUR — A new government policy requiring medicine price displays at private healthcare facilities and pharmacies, effective May 1, has had minimal impact, according to several operators.
At Friends Pharmacy in Seksyen 9, Shah Alam, prices are already visible on all items, with plans to extend listings to behind-the-counter medicines. AA Pharmacy nearby follows a similar approach.
Pharmacist Chock Ker Chia said the change is manageable, as price displays are already common practice. She noted that private clinics may face more hurdles, with patients potentially opting to buy medications elsewhere.
Mediviron Clinic in the same area has addressed the policy by placing a detailed 10-page price booklet at its counter. A three-month grace period is in place before enforcement begins.
