KOTA BHARU — A 47-year-old male teacher accused of stabbing his 11-year-old son in Pasir Mas has been remanded for seven days to assist in an attempted murder investigation.

The remand order was issued today by Magistrate Ahmad Syafiq Aizat Nazri under Section 307 of the Penal Code. The suspect, dressed in lock-up attire, was seen arriving at the Kota Bharu Court Complex at 8.44 am.

The incident occurred yesterday in Kampung Banggol Che Dol, where the boy was seriously injured after being stabbed in the chest and abdomen.

Pasir Mas police chief ACP Kama Azural Mohamed said the attack may have stemmed from a domestic dispute, as the suspect is currently undergoing a third divorce process.

Police also confirmed the suspect has a history of mental illness and has been receiving psychiatric treatment since 2008.
