Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Philippine President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr have agreed that humanitarian aid to Myanmar must be delivered freely and without discrimination. In a phone call, Anwar also urged for the extension of Myanmar’s ceasefire to ensure continued aid access.

Anwar, who is also Malaysia’s Finance Minister, discussed ASEAN and global issues with Marcos, highlighting how Malaysia's upcoming ASEAN Chairmanship could help strengthen ties with the US, especially in ongoing tariff negotiations. He welcomed the US’s 90-day tariff delay, giving time for further dialogue.

Before ending the call, Anwar wished Marcos success in the upcoming Philippine general election and looked forward to seeing him at the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur.
