Malaysia’s move to grant 30-day visa-free entry for Kosovars marks a significant step in strengthening diplomatic and people-to-people ties between the two nations. Kosovo President Dr Vjosa Osmani, during her official visit to Malaysia, expressed deep appreciation, calling the decision timely and symbolic of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s dedication to enhancing bilateral relations.
With Malaysia now reciprocating Kosovo’s earlier visa waiver for Malaysians, Osmani anticipates a surge in Kosovar tourists and hopes for direct flights to further boost connectivity. She highlighted Malaysia’s support for Kosovo’s independence and post-war recovery, noting the warm and enduring friendship between both nations.
Trade between the countries reached RM28.55 million in 2024, with palm oil and electronics leading Malaysian exports. Osmani also voiced interest in expanding cooperation in cybersecurity, education, and disaster response, and awarded Anwar Malaysia’s highest civilian honour — the Order of Independence — for his continued support of Kosovo.
