Fire and Rescue Department DG Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad described the lack of fatalities in the RM80 million Putra Heights gas explosion as “a miracle,” with only 147 people injured and three treated for trauma.

He credited quick emergency response during Hari Raya, reduced traffic, and the efforts of newly deployed recruits who helped rescue 33 residents.

Despite intense heat up to 750°C and difficult conditions due to lingering compressed gas, coordinated efforts with the gas company and community cooperation ensured no lives were lost. Over 100 firefighters from 11 stations were involved in containing the disaster.
