JOHOR BAHRU — A 66-year-old company owner lost RM1.8 million after falling for an online investment scam promising 200% returns in three months. Johor police chief Datuk M Kumar said the victim was lured by a social media ad in October, made payments between November and January, and followed instructions to download an app to track the supposed investment. However, no returns were received, and he was eventually blocked from the platform. A police report was lodged, and the case is being probed under Section 420 of the Penal Code. Police urge the public to be cautious of too-good-to-be-true investment offers.
