NEELUM VALLEY — Despite rising tensions between India and Pakistan, weddings continue undeterred in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir. Brides like 18-year-old Rabia Bibi and grooms like 23-year-old Chaudhry Junaid are holding onto tradition, refusing to cancel celebrations even as fears of conflict loom. “We are not afraid,” said Rabia. Amid border gunfire, missile drills, and emergency alerts, locals in the picturesque Neelum Valley are choosing joy over fear. “If war comes, we’ll face it—but for now, we celebrate,” said groom Shoaib Akhtar.
