KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysian badminton legend Datuk Rashid Sidek has criticised certain national shuttlers for making bold claims about reaching the world’s top ranks without backing them up in training, calling them “all talk but no action.” Speaking after receiving the Sports Icon award from Universiti Malaya, Rashid stressed the need for stronger commitment and a clear goal. However, he remains optimistic about Malaysia’s chances at the 2026 Thomas Cup, citing the strength of the current men’s doubles pairs and potential from singles players like Lee Zii Jia. With the right strategy, Rashid believes Malaysia has what it takes to fight for the title. He also pledged to continue sharing his experience to support the sport’s growth.
