VANNES — Victims of Joel Le Scouarnec, the French surgeon on trial for over 300 child sex crimes, have rejected his courtroom apology, accusing him of using the trial as a stage for manipulation. Though Le Scouarnec, 74, admitted guilt and asked for forgiveness, victims say his emotionless demeanor and unsettling eye contact show no real remorse. Many described his behavior as calculated and chilling, calling it a continuation of his abuse. Already jailed for previous offenses, he now faces one of France’s largest child abuse trials, with charges spanning decades across multiple hospitals.
