SEOUL — South Korea’s People Power Party (PPP) officially named former labour minister Kim Moon-soo as its presidential candidate, following a chaotic sequence of events.
Kim had secured the nomination last week, but a last-minute attempt to replace him with ex-prime minister Han Duck-soo failed when party members voted against it, reinstating Kim.
After registering his candidacy, Kim expressed gratitude to his supporters, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming election to overcome the nation’s current crisis and secure the happiness of its people.
